“The New Normal” Living during the pandemic

Following, the continued developments around COVID-19 outbreak, in March Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) has started to apply remote education and work from home for all of the elements until further communication. The education is switch into online mode through several application such as MS Teams, Kulon and others. The administration works are also conducted remotely. The new way of daily routine is out of our comfort zone, our “new normal”. There is no choice other than living coexist with the virus. But one fact that is true, this outbreak gives a lot of lesson to learn and introduced us the new way of living. Please stay safe and stay productive!

2020 Undip’s Academic Collaboration Program


Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) intends to expand the academic collaboration with international academics and practitioners.  This program is set to improve the quality of education and learning process as well as providing an international perspective and different experience for the students. In addition this academic collaboration is aims to improve quality of publication and research network for researchers. The collaboration offered many activities such as visiting professors, visiting lecturers, joint supervision, thesis examiners, joint research, joint publications, and keynote speakers for international conferences. Undip-RSND launch drive-thru PCR test for COVID-19

Universitas Diponegoro continues to support the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak. Diponegoro National Hospital (RSND) is one of the Higher Education Hospitals referred to treating COVID-19 patients. Last April the PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) examination service was launched for COVID-19 detection, in the mode of Drive thru swab test and a PCR laboratory. This service was launched with a big hope that it can accelerate the combat against COVID-19.

Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo thanked Undip for the cooperation so far, especially in handling the corona virus outbreak. Meanwhile, Director of RSND Dr. dr. Sutopo, M.M., M.Kes said that each lab’s results will be reported directly to the Central Java Provincial Health Office. Prof. Yos Johan Utama as Rector of Undip expressed his optimism with the integrated system built by the government and every element in the society especially University, the COVID-19 outbreak will be over soon.

Diponegoro Disaster Assistance Response Team (D-DART)

UNDIP Disaster Management Center and Diponegoro Disaster Asistance Response Team (D-DART) was established as part of social responsibility by Undip to the community that will contribute to the disaster response both at regional and national levels. The volunteering teams under D-DART are coming from various background, academics and practitioners from faculty staff and alumni with their expertise in the fields of life science, engineering, physical science, medical and public health.

Leads by Dr. Achmad Zulfa Juniarto, M.Sc.Med., MMR., Sp.And. (K)., Ph.D as the Chairperson, D-DART has produced thousands of face shields, hand sanitizers, disinfectants, surgical masks, nano filter masks and distributed in hospitals in Central Java for the response to COVID-19 outbreak.

Previously, Workshop on Disaster Management was held initiated by the Disaster Management Center of University of Diponegoro. This activity is a follow up to the establishment of D-DART. The activity that was conducted in the early of March discuss and formulate the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for UNDIP volunteer teams to contribute to the disaster response both at regional and national levels. Over 166 Undip volunteering team (D-DART) participated in this workshop.

The speakers are the Head of Disease Prevention and Control of the Health Office of Central Java Province (Dr. Tatik Murhayati, M.Kes) who discussed the Policy and the Flow of Disaster Management Coordination in Prov. Central Java, The Role of PMI in Disaster Management delivered by the Head of Disaster Management and Human Resources of Indonesian Red Cross Volunteers Prov. Central Java (H. Sarwa Pramana, SH., M.Sc), Central Java BPBD, and other disaster experts in the health sector.

The upcoming workshop, series of training were planned out specially to maximize the readiness level of all the D-DART members. By doing series of activities, it is expected that the D-DART volunteers to be prepared to cope with disaster management to help others as a form of social awareness.

 

WEBINAR Undip SDG’s Series 2020 Serie_1: 3rd SDGs_Health and Well-Being

Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) has committed to takes a role in the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals which are an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership. Especially in the current situation, amid the spread of the corona virus pandemic which spreads in almost 210 countries and territories in the world with a total of 3.2 million cases with a mortality rate of over 200 thousand people (update April 30, 2020).

With a willingness to contribute to solve various problems that arise as a result of this pandemic, Undip launched WEBINAR Undip SDGs Series 2020. This WEBINAR is a scientific seminar that presents speakers with their respective expertise to discuss and provide ideas and solutions for improving the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals.

Serie_1: 3rd SDGs Health and Well-Being with the theme “Strategy for Improving the Quality of Public Health in the Pandemic COVID-19 ” was carried out on late April 2020 live via Zoom, YouTube and Facebook. Present as the speaker Governor of Central Java H. Ganjar Pranowo, SH., M.IP, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Undip Dr. dr. Dwi Pudjonarko, Sp.S (K), Prof. Dr. Drh. I Gusti Ngurah Kade Mahardika as Professor of Udayana and Assoc Universities. Prof. Dr. Djull Acun Generous @ Tan Tek Song from Universiti Malaysia Sabah. The event was opened by Rector Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, SH., M.Hum.

In his remarks the Rector of Undip supported the efforts to resolve the crisis due to the spread of COVID-19 that was in line with SDG No. implementation. 3 namely ensuring a healthy life and supporting welfare for all for all ages.

The number of participants who took part in this webinar was around 317 people coming from various background including government, academics, researchers, students, and advocates and different places in Indonesia and several countries such as Malaysia, Japan, the USA and the Netherlands. Cooperation between the government, institutions and the community are needed so that we together can immediately get through this pandemic. Especially the socialization and improvement of community knowledge about COVID 19 and its preventive measures.

Faculty of Public Health’s Sharing Session to Combat COVID-19

Faculty of Public Health Undip with the Association of Indonesian Public Health Scholars and Associates (PERSAKMI) and the FKM Alumni Association (IKA FKM) hosted a sharing session with theme: Taiwan Experiences session in Overcoming the COVID-19 Pandemic via Zoom in early of May 2020. The speakers presents were Prof. Yinghuei Chen (Dean of International College, Asia University, Taiwan) moderated by Hanifa M. Denny, SKM., MPH, Ph.D who previously served as the Dean of Public Health Faculty for the 2015-2019.

Taiwan is one of four countries that manage well during the COVID-19 pandemic, and life has been back to normal. As of May 05, 2020, Taiwan recorded zero new cases of COVID-19.  Since January 21, 2020, Taiwan has accumulated 439 confirmed cases, but 339 of them have recovered. Meanwhile, there was only six death out of 439 confirmed cases. Therefore, Taiwan’s lesson learned to handle the COVID-19 pandemic is a good perspective to applied further.
